Edmond Allmond is a composer, performer and producer with extensive background in many styles and a deep understanding of many cultures. Born in Los Angeles, California, this talented, composing pianist, classically trained clarinettist & vocalist grew up in the long shadow of the MGM Studios Lot (now Sony Pictures) in Culver City, and was contracted there as a staff composer and music editor. Allmond has developed intimate knowledge of varied styles and harmonies during time spent with John Lucien, Miles Gregory, Rene van Helsdingen, Herb Jeffries, among many, many others. His love and understanding of other cultures, their instruments and music was cultivated while traveling and performing in Italy, Greece, Southern France, Southern Spain, and Mexico, and greatly expanded in shared performances during repeat visits to the Ukraine, Turkey, North Africa, West Africa and Costa Rica. Allmonds education began at age 7 on the piano, progressed quickly to the clarinet and composition at the age of 10 and, within that year, to the strict curriculum of composition and harmony at Mt St. Marys College under the private tutelage of the Dean of Music, Dr. Matt Doran. His excellence as a world-class clarinetist was honed by Kalman Bloch, former principal clarinetist of the L.A. Philharmonic. His young orchestral years were spent with Manuel Compinsky, Stewart Rupp, Melhi Mehta, among other conducting professors. Conducting studies came later with Bogidar Avramov and Paul Salumunovich. Allmonds writing skills would be further guided by Leroy Southers at Loyola Marymount and by Don Ray in UCLAs Masters studies in Film Scoring and Orchestration. Allmonds credits also include music work for 20th Century Fox, Don LaFontaine, Custard Pie Films, Carolco, Lorimar, Saban Entertainment, the John Ireland feature Johnny Morran, and the recent Indie film Store. He is also recognized as a meticulous producer, and still concertizes as his busy life permits. Allmonds television work credits include Facts of Life, Young Riders, Falcon Crest, Difrent Strokes, Mad Scientist Toon Club, Power Rangers.
